Michael Carrick's Manchester United future beyond the end of the season remains unknown but he has revitalised the club

Manchester United are gearing up to face off against bitter rivals Leeds United on Monday night.

The Red Devils' resurgence under interim manager Michael Carrick since he replaced Ruben Amorim looks set to bolster the club's summer transfer ambitions. United currently occupy third place in the Premier League and appear well-positioned to secure a Champions League berth for the upcoming season, given that a top five finish will be enough to secure a seat at Europe's top table.

A return to the continent's elite club competition should clearly aid Carrick's team in persuading their top transfer targets that United are on an upward trajectory and bolster their kitty for that anticipated spending. With that in mind, here's all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Man Utd discover transfer valuation

Manchester United have discovered Arsenal's position on promising left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, reports the Mirror.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last year but has been restricted to just two league starts this term, sparking rumours that he could depart the Gunners.

BBC Sport reveals that Arsenal rate Lewis-Skelly and fellow academy product Ethan Nwaneri at a combined £100million.

It is suggested the club are prepared to entertain selling the left-back, who has been battling with Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori for playing time, provided their valuation is satisfied.

United have allegedly earmarked Lewis-Skelly as a possible replacement for Luke Shaw. Despite his shortage of league starts, the teenager has featured 29 times across all competitions this season.

Nwaneri, 19, meanwhile moved to Marseille on loan in January and has got one goal and two assists in 10 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

Marcus Rashford message

United gaffer Carrick has been informed how Marcus Rashford could bolster his team, should a permanent switch to Barcelona not come to fruition.

The 28-year-old has been vocal about his wish to remain with the Catalan outfit, but club legend Nicky Butt believes a Rashford return to Old Trafford remains a feasible scenario.

"If he comes back, that will be a little golden nugget for Michael Carrick. One thing about Michael, he'll know him as a person, he'll know he's got his heart in the right place," the former midfielder Butt told Paddy Power.

"Off the left-hand side, when Rashford's playing to the top of his ability, he's really tough to handle.

"I still think he's a top player. Whether or not he comes back and blows the club away, who knows? But he's got the ability to do that."
