Right-back is definitely a priority for the Toffees, with Seamus Coleman out of contract this summer.

Nathan Patterson is also likely to be sold, while Jake O’Brien is a natural centre-back, with the plan ideally being to move him back inside.

A number of right-back options have emerged for Everton in recent weeks.

One of those has been Oscar Mingueza.

But this could be a hard sell for David Moyes, with two big guns also in the race.

Mingueza has enjoyed a really solid season over in La Liga with Celta Vigo.

The 26-year-old has made 38 appearances so far this season and has been a standout for Celta, who are pushing for Europe.

It was recently suggested that Everton have eyes on Mingueza.

But seemingly it will not be straightforward for the Toffees, with TEAMtalk now reporting that the top two clubs in England right now – Arsenal and Manchester City – are keen to sign the Spaniard.

Apparently, both clubs see Mingueza as a ‘high-calibre option’ ahead of the summer.

Mikel Arteta is seeking to strengthen at right-back and could offload Ben White, who ironically has been linked with Everton in recent weeks.

Manchester City also look to be trying to sign a new right-back, despite Matheus Nunes having had a fantastic season,

But the Portugal international was converted to the position, and perhaps they are looking for a more experienced option.

City could also sell Rico Lewis, who like White, has also been liked with Everton.

The deal-breaker for Mingueza

So it seems Mingueza could have several teams fighting over him this summer, and he may well have the luxury of choice.

TEAMtalk say that Mingueza is carefully weighing up his options, ‘with regular playing time likely to be a major factor in his decision as he approaches a crucial stage of his career’.

That perhaps gives Everton an advantage.

Right-back has long been a position the club have wanted to strengthen, and it seems Coleman and Patterson could both be on the way out this summer.

That would surely help Mingueza get the regular minutes he is looking for.
