Surprising Leeds United kit leak for 26/27 will certainly split opinion: View

Leeds United home kit leaks for the 26/27 season have emerged this week, and it looks as though fans may well be split in their opinions on this one.

Looking ahead to the 26/27 season, so much could change at Elland Road. We know that work is commencing on the expansion, while the club’s league status isn’t set in stone either.

We could be playing Championship football, we could stay in the Premier League, we could even be in the Europa League with FA Cup glory. What kit we’re playing in looks to be more clear this week, though.

Leeds United 26/27 home kit leak emerges online with intriguing stripe detail

We’ve already seen images leaked of Dominic Calvert-Lewin modelling the away kit for next season. It looks an absolute belter, with the Yorkshire white rose badge being brought back for the first time since 1998.

Now, FootyHeadlines have shared concept designs for the supposed 26/27 home kit for next season.

Still under a long-term Adidas contract, the kit includes an interesting rarely-seen detail. It looks as though the kit will include blue and yellow pinstripes:

For the first time in the club’s history, the club are claimed to be adopting horizontal pinstripes, having previously used this sort of design in a vertical pattern.

Previous vertical pinstriped kits include the 05/06 kit from our second season back in the Championship, associated with playoff final defeat to Watford. Prior to that, the design was also used in 1983-84, when Eddie Gray was manager of the club.

Leeds United’s pinstripe 26/27 home kit set to divide opinion amongst fans

It’s an interesting design, to say the least.

Adidas are of course calling back to our previous use of the pinstripe in years gone by, but to go horizontal is an intriguing choice.

I do expect that this is going to divide opinion. Because, many fans – myself included – think a plain white strip with subtle collar and hem detailing is enough.

Adding stripes seems unnecessary. It’ll still sell well, because every kit always does. That being said, I’m expecting a lot more popularity for the yellow kit.
