Manchester United have seven fixtures remaining to seal Champions League football next season. The club have been gathering momentum under Michael Carrick since his arrival on an interim basis, winning seven of 10 matches under their former captain.

Up next, United welcome Leeds as they look to consolidate their position in the European qualification places. While Carrick's side require the points to stay near the summit of the table, their historic rivals will be trying to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone below.

Harry Maguire is suspended for the encounter but Carrick could see Lisandro Martinez return from injury to take his place in the starting XI. Addressing the Argentine's potential return to domestic action, the interim manager said: "It's just that call that we make.

"We wouldn't be pushed into anything. I think it's important that the boys are ready. So that's a decision that we'll take. He's back training, which is great, and back on the grass. But we've certainly got to make the right decision and make sure he's ready."

United remain without Matthijs de Ligt, meaning a choice between Martinez, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven will need to be made before kick-off. Here, the brings you all the latest emerging from Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes has expressed his ambition for United to consistently challenge for major honours. The club captain is enjoying an excellent individual campaign but has arguably not experienced the trophy-laden success his talent warrants.

Despite the modest silverware haul during his time at the club, Fernandes will stay satisfied at United provided they remain genuine contenders for the title. He told the Telegraph: "What I always say to the club is: 'You can't promise me that I'm going to win the Premier League.

"That's impossible. But if you promise me that we're going to be competitive and we're going to be there at the end... that's all I need to know. Because then it's on me to become the best version of myself, to help everyone around to become the best version of themselves, to become the club we want to be."

Fernandes has suffered Europa League final heartbreak twice with United but insists simply being "in the fight" is what counts most to him. He added: "Everyone that comes to Man United wants to win every trophy.

"'No one thinks in coming to the club that we're going to fight for one or two trophies in six years. You want to fight for all of them. Then we went to three finals and didn't win. That can happen.

"But at least you've been there in the fight. We were close. And what I said to the club every time that I spoke with them, what I want from the time I'm here, I want to compete. Because if I compete, I will be close to winning."

Casemiro will be monitoring Jesse Lingard's development in the Brazilian league following his one-year contract with Corinthians signed in March. The United midfielder spent three years in his native league early in his career and is eager to see Lingard rediscover his finest form back home.

During an exclusive fan Q&A, Casemiro was asked whether he would be watching Lingard's matches for Corinthians. He said: "Of course, a player of this level - especially one who played in one of the biggest clubs in Europe, here at Manchester United - to play at Corinthians is welcome for the league.

"Each year, the league is getting more competitive and more interesting. It will be important to have these players in the league, and I wish him the best, that everything goes well in Corinthians."

Casemiro is poised to depart United at the campaign's end after spending four years in Manchester. Lingard himself came through the club's academy system and represented United on 232 occasions, scoring 35 goals and providing 21 assists.

While Lingard departed during the same summer that Casemiro arrived, the experienced midfielder has endorsed the 33-year-old's move and will be keeping tabs on him in Brazil going forward.
