Liverpool told to complete signing of£58m star–‘will cause defences problems’

Liverpool have been urged to consider a surprise move for AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has decided to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Former Reds striker Emile Heskey has backed the American international as a viable option to fill the void left by Salah, whose departure would mark the end of a defining era at Liverpool. Salah has been one of the Premier League’s most prolific forwards since joining in 2017, and his exit is expected to trigger a major rebuild in Liverpool’s attacking line.

According to recent reports, Heskey believes Pulisic’s direct playing style, Premier League experience with Chelsea, and improved form in Serie A make him a strong candidate for *LIVERPOOL*’s recruitment team. The winger has revived his career at AC Milan, becoming a key figure in their attacking system and demonstrating consistency in both domestic and European competitions.

Heskey has previously praised Pulisic’s ability to trouble defenders and operate in high-pressure environments, suggesting that a return to England could allow the winger to fully realise his potential after an inconsistent spell at Chelsea earlier in his career

Emile Heskey told OLBG: ‘I actually quite like Christian Pulisic. He is very direct. He probably didn’t get as many goals as I would have liked him to get at Chelsea but I thought he gave defences problems.

‘Obviously after a good World Cup, being at home with the pressure on him, he is definitely someone who could offer something different to Mohamed Salah or even Cody Gakpo right now.

‘Mo left Chelsea to go to Italy and look at what he’s done for LIVERPOOL. I think it’d be great to see someone like Pulisic come back into the Premier League in the same way.

‘I’m guessing he would love to show that his time at Chelsea was just a little blip. He was only a young lad when he came over.’

Would Pulisic be the ideal replacement for Salah?

Replacing Mohamed Salah is one of the most difficult tasks in modern football. His combination of goals, durability, and consistency has made him irreplaceable in a traditional sense.

Christian Pulisic offers a different profile entirely. He is more of a creative, dribbling winger who thrives in transition rather than a high-volume goal scorer like Salah. While he has shown improved end product at AC Milan, he has never reached the elite 25–30 goal-per-season level that Salah has maintained for years.

However, Pulisic’s biggest strength may be his versatility. He can operate across the front line, combine well in tight spaces, and contribute to build-up play in ways Salah is less involved in. This could suit a LIVERPOOL side evolving into a more fluid, shared-attacking system.

The key concern remains availability and consistency. Injuries and fluctuating form have previously limited his impact, particularly during his time in the Premier League.
