Transfer talks have started over PL star who was 'phenomenal' this weekend after Liverpool links - Romano

Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi is reportedly in talks with multiple Premier League sides after claims he could join Liverpool.

With the Reds still unsure over the future of Ibrahima Konate, recent reports confirmed that Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Senesi on a free transfer.

Taking over the story, journalist Fabrizio Romano says the Cherries centre-back is likely to stay England, and is already in negotiations with clubs over a move.

Senesi set for Premier League transfer

Senesi has had an impressive season for Bournemouth, helping Andoni Iraola’s team easily move on from the sales of Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi last summer.

That culminated in a top showing against Arsenal on Saturday, with former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy singling Senesi out for praise on Match of the Day.

“Senesi was outstanding,” Murphy said. “His distribution from the back was phenomenal, progressive passing through the lines.”

With a big free agent move on the line, Senesi is showing what he can do, and according to Romano, his agents are already hammering it out with some unnamed Premier League clubs about joining them.

“Marcos Senesi, despite proposals from Italy and some calls from Spain, wants to stay in the Premier League,” the transfer expert said on his YouTube channel on Sunday.

“He will leave Bournemouth as a free agent, he’s not going to sign a deal at Bournemouth and is ready to make his move in the summer transfer window. Now his agents are talking to Premier League clubs.

“The conversations will continue in the next days and weeks to pick the favourite project. Nothing is close to being signed, sealed or agreed just yet, it will still take some time. But Premier League is the focus of the player.”

As Liverpool continue to wait for clarity on Konate, there remains a chance they will need another centre-back addition this summer. Free, experienced and in the peak of his career, Senesi would make a logical choice.
