Ayari reveals ex-Albion skipper is helping him learn midfield trade

The Sweden international returned to the starting XI for the battle at Burnley as James Milner missed out through injury.

He started in a deep-lying role and helped secure a third successive clean sheet in a 2-0 success.

Ayari is better known for his forward-looking play and has more goal attempts per game than any other Seagulls player.

In terms of general midfield play, current coach and former skipper Andrew Crofts is among the people he can learn from.

Ayari told The Argus: “When I get my opportunity to play, I always try to make a difference.

“When it comes to goals and assists or just playing good overall.

“Sometimes I work with Bobby Zamora (on finishing) and sometimes I go with Crofty to work on the passing and stuff like that.

“I do a lot of extras just to try and improve myself in every aspect.”

Ayari was brought back into the XI at Turf Moor after proving his form and fitness with Sweden during two high-stakes World Cup qualification play-offs.

He now appears to be in pole position to start on Saturday at Tottenham, against whom he scored early in the season in a 2-2 draw at the Amex.
