Sunderland have been handed a boost in the race to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, who has rejected a move abroad to stay in the Premier League this summer.
Fabrizio Romano shares Senesi transfer update
The Black Cats have been linked with Senesi for several months, recently holding talks with his representatives.
The Argentina international has a huge list of clubs queuing up to sign him when his Bournemouth contract expires this summer following an impressive season with the Cherries.
Manchester United are also among his suitors, while the likes of Barcelona in Spain and Juventus in Italy have been linked with a move.
Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest update on his YouTube channel, confirming Senesi has rejected European clubs - namely Juve - and is "ready" to join a new Premier League club this summer.

"Despite proposals from Italy, for example Juventus were interested, and some calls from Spain, he wants to stay in the Premier League.
"So Senesi will leave Bournemouth in the summer transfer window as a free agent, he's not going to sign a new deal at Bournemouth and he's ready to make his move in the summer transfer window.
"And now his agents are talking to Premier League clubs."
Senesi has played 31 out of 32 games for Bournemouth this season, providing four assists and becoming a key part of Andoni Iraola's system with his long passing ability.

“This is not an isolated incident, recent abuse directed at Romaine Mundle and Lutsharel Geertruida highlights the ongoing and unacceptable frequency of this behaviour, both inside stadiums and online.
“The club has reported this incident to the Premier League, the relevant social media platforms and the police, and we expect swift action to be taken against those responsible.
“Racism is abhorrent and has no place in our game or in society, and we will continue to call it out clearly and unapologetically every time it occurs.
