Out-on-loan Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph suffered a knee injury recently.
Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph has posted an emotional message after suffering a serious knee injury while out on loan.
Joseph has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, ending his season-long stint with Real Mallorca in La Liga. The young striker returned to his native Spain in the summer transfer window to spend the campaign with Mallorca, after expressing his desire to leave Elland Road.
Leeds were not minded to sell the youngster permanently, however. News of his injury was met with displays of support from his Mallorca team-mates and supporters who sang his name after a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano at home on Sunday.
"Today I had to stop," Joseph began in a social media message. "You always see these things from the outside, until one day it's your turn to live them. And there it all changes. It's not just not being able to play. It's stopping the pace, the routine that defines you every day. Now it's time to learn how to compete differently. Be patient, trust the process and accept that there are good days and others that won't be so much."

"Thank you for the support I'm receiving, it's felt more than it seems," he said. "I will be right back. But most of all, I'll come back to being better at a lot of things you can't see."
Ex-Leeds captain Liam Cooper, last season's promotion winner Josuha Guilavogui and fellow outgoing loanees Largie Ramazani and Joe Gelhardt are among those to have shown their support in response to Joseph's post.
