Fabrizio Romano says that Argentine centre back Marco Senesi wants to stay in the Premier League instead of following transfer interest to Italy or Spain.
Inter Milan and Barcelona are both seriously interested in signing the 28-year-old this summer when his Bournemouth contract expires. His terms with the Cherries expire on 30 June 2026, making him one of the most promising free agent options this summer.
Liverpool have been tracking him very closely amid their defensive woes this season. Having conceded 42 goals in 32 games, it’s no surprise they are considering transfers to plug the holes at the back.
Latest update on Marco Senesi will come as a huge boost to Liverpool
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool are among several Premier League teams tracking Senesi, and will be emboldened by Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on his future.
The Italian journalist reports that Senesi wants to stay in England when he leaves Bournemouth upon the expiry of his contract.
“Marcos Senesi, despite proposals from Italy and some calls from Spain, wants to stay in the Premier League,” Romano said on his YouTube channel on Sunday.
“He will leave Bournemouth as a free agent, he’s not going to sign a deal at Bournemouth and is ready to make his move in the summer transfer window. Now his agents are talking to Premier League clubs.
“The conversations will continue in the next days and weeks to pick the favourite project. Nothing is close to being signed, sealed or agreed just yet, it will still take some time. But Premier League is the focus of the player.”
Senesi display vs Arsenal was really encouraging
Senesi was crucial for Bournemouth this weekend, dealing Arsenal a death blow in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners were defeated 2-1 at the Emirates on Saturday, handing Man City the initiative in the race to dethrone Liverpool as Premier League champions.
Senesi was resolute in his defending and calm in possession – attributes that have been sorely lacking at the back for Liverpool at times this season.
After the game, former Liverpool star Danny Murphy praised Senesi.
“Senesi was outstanding,” Murphy said. “His distribution from the back was phenomenal, progressive passing through the lines.”
A free transfer for Senesi alongside the £60m acquisition of Jeremy Jacquet would set Liverpool on the path to solving many of their defensive issues.
Should Ibrahima Konate also renew his contract, Liverpool will be close to putting their defensive problems behind them.
