Already said he wants to play at Anfield: £87m star says LFC interest 'motivates' him 'even more'

Yan Diomande has once again commented on interest from Liverpool ahead of a transfer window where he is expected to leave RB Leipzig.

It’s not the first time Diomande has commented on playing for Liverpool, after he admitted in January that he would love to play for the Reds, revealing he supports them.

At the time, he said: “I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a huge Liverpool fan. My dad dreams of seeing me play at Anfield!”

Now, with links between Diomande and Liverpool increasing by the week, the 19-year-old has once again commented directly on the matter.

“I’m here, and first and foremost, I have my health, and I work hard every day,” he said.

“Hearing these rumours about big clubs like PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool and others interested in me only motivates me even more. I’m keeping a smile on my face, staying cheerful, and pushing forward.

“My job is on the pitch, and I’m fully committed to my current club. As for the rest, I have a team that takes care of everything; I don’t stress about it. I play in Leipzig, and I’m enjoying myself.”

What do reports say about Diomande moving to Liverpool amid stunning season in Germany?

This season, Diomande has exploded into life for Leipzig, becoming their undisputed attacking talisman.

With 12 goals and eight assists, he is regularly running the show from the front for the Bundesliga outfit. Between his attacking output and his undeniable talent when driving at defenders, it’s unsurprising that Liverpool are paying him very close attention.

In late March, Florian Plettenberg reported that Diomande is among three players that Liverpool would like to replace Mohamed Salah with when he leaves for free this summer. The reporter claimed that ‘various talks’ are ongoing ‘behind the scenes’, but Leipzig will demand around €100m (£87m) to sell him.

More recently, in the first week of April, Spanish outlet Sport claimed that Barcelona are trying to disrupt Liverpool’s momentum to compete for Diomande’s signature.

There will no doubt be plenty of competition in the race to sign Diomande given the season he’s enjoying despite his youth.
