Everton could potentially part ways with Thierno Barry if they sign an alternative in the summer.

The Frenchman has had his moments, but hasn’t been a consistent threat as a number nine for the Toffees.

There have been questions about his future already on Merseyside after clashing with supporters after the recent defeat away to Arsenal.

He has hardly played since that night at the Emirates and could face an uncertain future with just six Premier League games remaining.

Barry could find himself out of Everton in the near future, something which will become more likely if Artem Dovbyk comes in.

Artem Dovbyk looks set for Roma exit

The Ukraine international has been linked with a move to Merseyside for a while due to links with the Friedkin Group.

His spell at Roma has come under scrutiny in the past year, and that hasn’t been helped by his lack of goals in the Italian capital this season.

Having contributed to just four strikes this season, he has been easily outshone by January signing and Aston Villa loanee Donyell Malen.

Corriere dello Sport has now reported that Gian Piero Gasperini wants to get rid of the striker alongside another six first-teamers.

That could afford Everton the perfect opportunity to sign the striker, who has scored 20 career goals for Roma and has a pedigree for finding the net.

The 28-year-old is currently valued at £13million according to reports and could represent a bargain at that fee for the Blues.

If Dovbyk were to join Everton in the summer, it may spell bad news for Barry after a difficult debut campaign in L3.

Thierno Barry could be done at Everton

The Blues’ number 11 just hasn’t worked out since his big-money move from Villarreal ahead of the current campaign.

With just six Premier League goals to his name, he has more to give, but isn’t being given that opportunity at this stage.

That isn’t helped by the fact he has taken a low average of 1.73 shots per 90, while racking up just 0.33 expected goals per 90 on Merseyside.

It is unclear what Moyes makes of the striker, especially as other striker options continue to be linked to the Toffees.

Dovbyk has been strongly linked in the past, and now that he is available for a potential cut-price deal, he could be a market opportunity that the L3 outfit can’t pass up.

He was a true star for Girona as he racked up 24 goals and 10 assists for the LaLiga side before sealing a move to Roma in 2024.

Barry could be let go to accommodate the Ukrainian, who certainly has better experience at the top level as a number nine.
