Liverpool and Man Utd go head to head to sign veteran, scouted him this weekend

Liverpool will need to replace Andy Robertson with the Scotsman set to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Reports indicate that they could now turn to RB Leipzig star David Raum to fill the massive hole that Robertson will leave behind after his nine years of service to the club.

Liverpool signed Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in the 2025 summer transfer window to begin preparing for life after Robertson. The Hungarian has done a decent job, while there have certainly been teething issues since he made the step up at Anfield.

It’s difficult to gauge whether or not Kerkez has struggled just because of the differences between playing for Bournemouth and Liverpool, or if Arne Slot’s well-publicised struggles are to blame.

Nonetheless, Liverpool will be in the market for another new left back this summer.

Liverpool considering summer transfer for David Raum to fill Robertson-shaped hold

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are now considering a move for a third RB Leipzig player in Raum. The Reds are also keeping tabs on 19-year-old Yan Diomande and centre-back Castello Lukeba.

They report: “Liverpool and Manchester United scouts were watching RB Leipzig at the weekend, and there is nothing unusual in that, as they have been tracking wing starlet Yan Diomande very closely in recent months, but TEAMtalk can reveal another player was a big reason for their presence.

“Sources have confirmed that Leipzig captain David Raum has also emerged as a player of significant interest to both Premier League giants in recent months.

“The Germany international left-back has been in outstanding form this season and delivered a Player of the Match performance in the weekend victory – a display that did not go unnoticed by watching scouts.

“His emergence as a target is particularly timely, with Liverpool and Manchester United actively looking to strengthen in his position.”

The report goes on to say that Raum wouldn’t merely be a deputy to Kerkez, but will be signed to compete for a starting role given the early struggles the 21-year-old has had at Anfield.

Raum is out of contract at the end of next season, and this gives Liverpool an in with Leipzig. The Bundesliga outfit will be desperate for a chance to cash in before his deal runs out, and Liverpool can give it to them.
