Leeds United pulled off a huge win against Manchester United on Monday night. This was the first time the Whites had beaten their rivals away from home since 2010.
And they did it by completely dominating Michael Carrick’s side in the first half. Manchester United could not get into their rhythm as Leeds made them uncomfortable on the ball. And when Daniel Farke’s side got possession, they were fast and direct with each attack. Noah Okafor was responsible for both goals in the first half to give the away side a two-goal lead at half time.

Roy Keane tells Michael Carrick to accept Lisandro Martinez red card
There was some controversy in the second half of the game, as Lisandro Martinez was sent off for violent conduct. He was initially booked, but a VAR review saw him sent off for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair. After the game, Manchester United boss Michael Carrick was furious with the decision, saying it was a ”shocking” decision.
After the game, Roy Keane said Carrick’s comments were wrong, as the law of the game says it was a red card offence.
“We’re looking at the laws of the game here, and when you class that as violent conduct, as ex-players that seems really harsh, so it is harsh but if we’re looking at the laws of the game then you have to accept it, you’re obviously not going to agree with it as Carrick is, but we’ve seen it happen before this season.”

Refereeing decision finally goes Leeds United’s way
Leeds United have had the short end of refereeing decision for over a month now. Daniel Farke being sent off after the Manchester City game, VAR missing a penalty against Sunderland have been just a few decisions the Whites have been on the receiving end of. So it was very refreshing for Leeds fans to have a refereeing decision go their way. Keane was spot on as Lisandro Martinez was rightly sent off for what was in the rule book. A win now gives Daniel Farke’s men confidence ahead of their game against Wolves at Old Trafford.
