West Ham’s survival is in their hands, but will the task prove too challenging?

**West Ham have their Premier League survival in their own hands after a positive weekend of results.**

The home game against Wolves was an absolute must win for the Hammers. A loss would’ve seen them going into a tough final 6 matches in the bottom 3, but a win would (depending on the Tottenham result) move them out of the relegation zone.

Fortunately, Spurs continued their abysmal run of form and were unable to secure any points at Sunderland, moving West Ham outside of the relegation zone for (at least) one match week for the first time since MW14. While Tottenham have more favourable fixtures than our Irons, the key difference is they don’t look like they could give anyone a good game.

A draw against Aston Villa means Nottingham Forest move one point ahead of Nuno’s West Ham. However, their matches are just as, if not more, difficult overall, and with them still being in Europe their split focus and fatigue could play a massive role in deciding where they finish.

Unfortunately, it’s not all positive, as Leeds first win at Old Trafford since 1981 meant that they now sit 4 points above our Irons. Realistically, they probably only need another 3 or so points to be near certain safety.

It’s still far from over. Anything but a win at Crystal Palace and West Ham could return to the drop zone. However, there’s certainly some comfort in knowing it’s in our control. Palace are in good form, but confidence amongst the Hammers must surely be brimming.
