Scott using England omission as fuel after starring and scoring winner at Arsenal

Scott was superb on Saturday as Bournemouth beat Arsenal at the Emirates, backing up an excellent performance against Manchester United before the break and after the squad was announced.

In fact, the midfielder has been on flying form all season, and boss Andoni Iraola hailed that top quality and consistency after Scott scored the winner in north London.

The 22-year-old caught the eye of many neutrals this weekend, but his performance was not a surprise to those who watch the Cherries week in, week out.

And Scott will be hoping England boss Thomas Tuchel was one who was impressed with his showing.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent about his England hopes after the game, Scott said: “Obviously you're really disappointed not to be in that latest squad.

“But like I said after the game against United, it's head down, it's fuel for me.

“And I've got to keep playing, keep performing, performing like that, and hopefully I put myself in the picture come the summer.

“If not, so be it.

“Obviously I'm an England fan, so I want them to win whether I'm there or not. So yeah, either way, it's going to be a good summer. Hopefully I'll be in the squad. If not, then crack on again.”
