RB Leipzig captain David Raum is a player of “significant interest” to Liverpool, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that Reds scouts were in attendance for Leipzig’s 1-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

While observers were there watching Yan Diomande, they were also keeping an eye on Raum, ahead of the summer transfer window.

The German international has been in impressive form this campaign, having racked up 3 goals and 8 assists in 32 appearances as a left-back.

Liverpool will have competition for the defender

It is believed that Manchester United also had a representative in attendance for Leipzig’s clash against Gladbach on Saturday.

The Red Devils were there to watch the same two players – Raum and Diomande. Michael Carrick’s team are hoping to add more depth at both left-back and on the left wing.

While Diomande is expected to fetch a lot of money, with €100m (£87m) his current asking price, Raum could be signed for a lot less due to the fact that his contract at Leipzig expires at the end of next season.

The Bundesliga side may offer their talisman an extension, but his head could be turned by interest from the Premier League.

Raum could be Robertson’s replacement

Andy Robertson confirmed last week that he will be leaving Anfield when his contract expires this summer.

The Scotland international has admitted he had opportunities to leave last year and in January, and he has now decided it is the right time to move on.

Tottenham were interested in recruiting Robertson at the beginning of this year, and the BBC now claim that Spurs are once again favourites to snap him up on a free transfer in July. Talks between the two parties are said to be at an advanced stage but the fullback will only move to North London if the club retains their top-flight status.
