Supporters take note - Bruno Guimaraes stance on Newcastle United future revealed amid Man…

Bruno Guimaraes has been indispensable for Newcastle United since arriving in January 2022.

Bruno Guimaraes will reportedly not push for a Newcastle United exit this summer.

Speculation has surrounded several of Newcastle's top stars in recent months. While the likes of Sandro Tonali, Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon have attracted constant attention, reports emerged last month linking Guimaraes with a potential exit.

His agent, Alexis Malavolta, posted a cryptic question mark on social media at the height of the rumours. Eddie Howe also angrily labelled the rumours as “nonsense” when asked at a press conference.

Bruno Guimaraes stance

According to ESPN, Guimaraes will not actively seek to leave Newcastle. The Brazilian is idolised on Tyneside as the club’s captain and has been a major influence since joining in 2022.

Fan fury intensified last summer when Alexander Isak downed tools to force through a Newcastle exit. Guimaraes - given his close relationship with Toon fans - would not do the same.

However, his contract situation is approaching a precarious moment as he enters the final two years of his deal. NewcastleWorld understands the Magpies are keen to tie Guimaraes down beyond 2028.

At 28, the midfielder is entering a critical stage of his career and wider questions have been asked about the Saudi-backed project. A rebuild is expected in the coming months - and Newcastle will want Guimaraes front and centre as they aim to rebound from an underwhelming campaign.

Eddie Howe’s angry Bruno Guimaraes response

When asked about the Guimaraes rumours, Howe said: "I don't even know how to respond to that. I don't even think I should because it's a waste of my energy. I'm not going to be impolite because I don't think it's the forum to do that in. For me, it's a nonsense story.

"Bruno is our captain. He's fully committed. He's injured at the moment, his only focus is coming back to fitness. It is not the time to think about it. In the summer, you can understand those stories a little bit more because the transfer window is open.

"To say our captain is in discussions with another club is totally disrespectful to Bruno more than anything else. He is totally committed here."
