Man United are looking for a left-back to compete with Luke Shaw ahead of next season.

Left-back is one position that Man United are expected to upgrade in, as Luke Shaw is now over 30, and has just one more season left on his contract after this year is up.

Man United and Liverpool battle for Raum

Man United aren’t the only Premier League side keen to upgrade at left-back, as Liverpool is understood to be interested too. The Reds need to find a replacement for Scottish left-back Andy Robertson, who announced he will leave Anfield in the summer.

According to TeamTalk, both Man United and Liverpool are considering a move for RB Leipzig left-back David Raum to compete with Shaw. The 27-year-old is a reliable defensive left-back and could be a really solid addition to Man United’s defence heading into next season.

The report claims that Raum has just one year left on his contract, much like Shaw, which should be able to reduce his potential cost ahead of the summer, which means he could be available on the cheap. He has an estimated market value of around £20m, and has made 32 appearances for RB Leipzig this season, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.

Man United also eyeing Leipzig attacker

The 19-year-old has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool too, as he is one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe at the moment. He has an £87m release clause in his contract, and so could be a lot more expensive than Raum.

This season, Diomande has made 31 appearances this season for the Bundesliga side, scoring 12 goals, and providing eight assists.
