Burnley defender added to list – Giants look to take advantage of relegation

Burnley

Galatasaray have added Burnley defender Maxime Estève to their list of possible targets should they drop out of the Premier League.

Sok Gazetesi report the 23-year-old wants to leave Turf Moor this summer and Galatasaray have him on their list.

The newspaper explains that Galatasaray currently only have one left-footed central defender in their squad, Abdülkerim Bardakcı.

They want to fix that issue in the coming months, considering it a problem for a while.

Burnley defender on the list

Galatasaray have added Burnley defender Maxime Estève as the latest name on their list of potential options.

Unless there is a late turnaround, something that would require a miracle at this point, the Clarets will drop back into the Championship next season.

That has opened the door for suitors such as Galatasaray. The 23-year-old also wants to leave Turf Moor this summer. He’s currently valued at €25m, and Galatasaray could make an official offer.

Whether the Turkish side would offer that amount, though, isn’t made clear. Sok Gazetesi do state any offer would be dependent on the other alternatives on their list. Estève is also rated at €25m by Transfermarkt.

Selling Estève at that price would earn Burnley more than double the €12m they paid in July 2024.

But there’s no pressure to sell. He’s currently tied to a deal until 2030 after signing a new contract last summer.

Summer exit wanted

Should Estève want to leave this summer, his stance could force Burnley into a deal despite the contract. It seems he’s ready to move on and see what’s on offer elsewhere.

There has been Premier League interest in the past, although that has never developed into anything concrete. That might change if he makes his desire to move on clear, though.

For now, it’s Galatasaray eyeing him up.

Like most Turkish sides, they’re not against sniffing around soon-to-be relegated clubs for potential bargains. And it seems that’s led them to Burnley and Estève this time around.
