“Fantastic” – Player sounds keen on permanent Leeds United exit

Leeds United

Jack Harrison’s move to Fiorentina from Leeds United caught many by surprise. The Englishman now seems certain about staying in Italy beyond the season, if the decision is his.

The winger’s transfer was covered extensively bySport Witness in January. La Viola, who were struggling against relegation at that point, added an option to buy in the loan deal.

At the start, Harrison didn’t do as much as he would have liked to. But he has assisted in each of the last two games, contributing to decisive goals in 1-0 wins over Verona and Lazio.

This can have a big importance in the season for Fiorentina, who now find themselves 15th in the table.

At one point, the Italian press seemed convinced that Harrison would return to Leeds, however, the recent run of form is likely to change that stance.

The player himself has now indicated his desire to stay at Fiorentina.

Harrison hinting at permanent deal

After the win over Lazio on Monday, the winger spoke to the press about his situation at Fiorentina.

He made it clear that he is in love with the city and wants to make an even bigger mark.

Harrison said – viaLaViola:“I love it here, I’m really happy with this experience. I love the people, I like the city. It’s a fantastic place. We’ll see about the future, but I try to do everything I can on the pitch to prove my worth.”

He also indicated his desire to keep improving and helping Fiorentina.

“I’m working hard to improve. I had some opportunities in this match too, as in previous games. But the important thing is to win, get the three points, and help the team get out of this difficult period. If I score, then that’s great. The coach always asks me to score.”

Further, the 29-year-old expressed belief about what he has brought to the Serie A side. He also appeared happy with the impact made.

“I brought intensity, pressing, everything I could bring. Vanoli appreciated it. I know how important this period is, attacking and defending.”

Our take: Permanent deal likelier than weeks ago

Jack Harrison has ignored the outside noise and worked hard to turn things around. He deserves credit for that and for coming up with key contributions when the games needed that.

Fiorentina’s survival should also increase chances of him leaving Leeds United permanently. Relegation would’ve meant a financial disaster but now, they should have enough money to exercise the€7m option to buy.

This should ideally satisfy all parties involved. The Whites will get the winger off their books and use that to sign other, younger squad players.
