Anthony Munda has impressed for Newcastle United under-21s but is desperate to take the next step.
Newcastle United youngster Anthony Munda has declared he wishes to explore a potential loan move this summer.
A versatile midfielder, the 19-year-old can operate as a No.10, a No.8 or in the holding role. Munda joined the Magpies as a nine-year-old in 2012 but is yet to make the leap to the first team.
The Cowgate native featured for Eddie Howe’s senior setup in a 2-0 pre-season victory over Hull City two years ago. However, opportunities to break through and stake a claim for a competitive appearance have proven limited.

Anthony Munda desperate for senior football
Speaking to The Gazette after Newcastle under-21s drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Munda confirmed that he is desperate for a chance in senior football. He said: “I feel like, for me, that's the next step (a loan move) that I need to take. Obviously, I’ve played quite a lot of under-21s football, so the step from the under-21s to first-team football is quite a big jump.
“But I feel like now I'm in a place where I'm ready to do so and, hopefully, next season we'll see what comes. I feel like I'm in a good place right now, just trying to take it game by game, but obviously my aim is to play first-team football. I feel like now I'm ready to take that push but I can only control what I control right now - and that's by playing games as best as I can.”
Perfect Newcastle United inspiration
Munda came through the youth ranks alongside Lewis Miley - now viewed as a key first-team star. When asked if his former teammate can provide the perfect inspiration, he added: “I grew up playing and training with Lewis Miley, so seeing him make that jump to the first team, it's good to see.
“It shows that there can be a pathway and there's a way up there. Obviously, it's not easy, he's done really well in the situation that he was in, took his chance really well, so it's good to see.”
