Dominic Calvert-Lewin felt there was a bit of misfortune behind Lisandro Martinez’s red card during Manchester United’s loss to Leeds on Monday night.
It was a disappointing night for Manchester United at Old Trafford after returning from a three-week break.
United lost 2-1 against Leeds, with Casemiro scoring United’s only goal in the 69th minute to narrow the deficit.
The game had no shortage of controversy as Lisandro Martinez received a questionable red card 13 minutes before Casemiro pulled one goal back for the Red Devils.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin reacts to Lisandro Martinez’s red card
With United trailing 2-0, Martinez challenged Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the ball in the air when the Argentine got hold of the striker’s hair.
Referee Paul Tierney allowed play to continue, but VAR intervened to review the incident before Martinez was shown a red card for violent conduct.
As a result, Martinez is set to serve a three-match suspension, which will rule him out of games against Chelsea, Brentford and Liverpool.

Calvert-Lewin admitted that Martinez was ‘unlucky’ to receive a red card, but also revealed how he told the referee he felt his hair pulled.
“I don’t make the rules at the end of the day,” Calvert-Lewin told Premier League Productions.
“Yeah, he’s probably a little bit unlucky. I probably think he’s not meant to grab my hair like that, but I told the ref it felt like he pulled it a little bit more than what it looks like there in real time. So, yeah. And unfortunately for him, he’s been sent off.”
MUTV pundits slammed the referee’s decision to dismiss Martinez. It remains to be seen if United will appeal the decision.
There is extra irony behind Taylor’s decision to send Martinez off, which stems from how the referee saw no issue with Calvert-Lewin elbowing Leny Yoro in the head in the first half.

Lisandro Martinez’s disciplinary record at Man Utd
The red card Martinez received against Leeds was his first red card in a United shirt.
Despite being nicknamed ‘The Butcher’, Martinez has a decent disciplinary record for an aggressive centre-back.
In 107 appearances for United, Martinez has received 23 yellow cards and one red card.
Martinez was never shown a red card during his time at Ajax, Defence and Justice or Newell’s Old Boys.
