“It hasn’t quite worked out at Chelsea. As I’ve said previously – for those that have been with the channel – I’ve mentioned over the last week or so that his agency are looking at options for Liam Delap,” he said on A View From The Bullens Patreon.
A lot of talk about Liam Delap. You may have seen reports lately regarding him. I can see Paul Grimason already—yeah, you’re not a fan, Paul—but a few publications have put Liam Delap as a person of conversation for Everton.
“We knew Everton had wined and dined him around Hill Dickinson Stadium last season. For those who don’t realise, Everton did take Liam Delap to Hill Dickinson and showed him around the ground, and also took him to Finch Farm to show him around.
“There was a point during the summer where Everton felt they could get him.”
A lot of Everton supporters wanted to sign Delap last summer on the back of his excellent debut season in the Premier League with Ipswich Town.
His move to Chelsea certainly has not done his stock any favours, with just one Premier League goal to his name.
Liam Delap poses serious risk for Everton
Had Everton landed Delap on the back of his 12-goal season with Ipswich, then not many would have questioned the signing.
However, for where Everton aspire to be over the coming months, signing a player who has scored just one goal this season would be a monumental risk.
Moyes has not been pleased with his Everton strikers this season, who have shown very little consistency in front of goal.
To potentially replace them with Delap would leave the 23-year-old striker with a lot to prove if he moved to Merseyside.
Fans will surely want to see the signing of a proven goalscorer this summer having lived through a number of signings that have not lived up to their billing.
