Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on speculation surrounding the future of midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, insisting the young star remains fully committed to Real Madrid despite reports of interest from Liverpool and other European sides.
Recent days have seen growing rumours suggesting LIVERPOOL are exploring midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer window and have identified Camavinga as a potential high-end target. However, Romano moved swiftly to clarify the situation, stating that the France international is not pushing for an exit and is determined to compete for a more prominent role in Madrid’s star-studded midfield.
Romano said about Camavinga on his YouTube channel: “But, as of today, my understanding is that Real Madrid are not actively trying to sell Camavinga.
“Real Madrid are not offering Camavinga to clubs. His agents are not offering Camavinga to clubs. Camavinga is not showing a desire to leave Real Madrid, according to my information.
“So, if there is a top club, a top proposal in the summer, we will see what happens, but, as of today, Camavinga is not actively trying to leave Real Madrid.
“Camavinga wants to fight for his place at Real Madrid. Camavinga loves Real Madrid, so he still wants to find a way to continue at Real Madrid, also in the future.
“Then, on Real Madrid side, he’s not an absolutely untouchable player. If a big proposal arrives and if the player is keen, for Real Madrid, the negotiation could be possible, but it doesn’t mean that Real Madrid are telling Camavinga, ‘You are out of the project’.
“That’s not the case. So, that’s the status of the story, as of today.
Camavinga, who joined Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021, has featured regularly in a variety of roles, from central midfield to left-back. His tactical flexibility and ball-winning instincts have made him a fan favourite, but competition for places remains fierce with the presence of players such as Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Liverpool’s reported interest is linked to their ongoing rebuild of the midfield department, but club sources have maintained that any move for Camavinga would face significant hurdles. Real Madrid have no intention of entertaining offers, and the player’s current contract—featuring a significant release clause—further complicates any pursuit.
Romano’s update aligns with Madrid’s internal sentiment. Club officials view Camavinga as a central figure in both the present and future phases of their midfield evolution and have consistently resisted approaches for him, even when he has experienced periods of limited game time.
For LIVERPOOL, the clarification means attention will likely shift to alternative targets as the Premier League side continue evaluating options for the next transfer cycle.
