Newcastle receive offers for 'excellent' star as summer exit decision made - report

Newcastle United could part ways with goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos after the season, according to reports in Spain.

The Magpies are open to cashing in on the Greek international, who is spending the season on loan at Sevilla after failing to break into Eddie Howe’s squad.

Since joining Newcastle from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £20m in the summer of 2024, Vlachodimos has featured only once under Howe, in the Carabao Cup.

The 31-year-old has been a regular during his loan spell at Sevilla, making 27 appearances in La Liga and keeping four clean sheets.

Newcastle Receive Offers for Vlachodimos

According to Diario de Sevilla (as relayed by Sport Witness), Newcastle have already started receiving offers for Vlachodimos ahead of the summer, although not from Sevilla.

The Spanish side could find it difficult to retain the Greek international amid their precarious La Liga position, with the club sitting 16th with seven games remaining, two points above the relegation zone.

While Vlachodimos would welcome a stay at the club, other unnamed sides are said to be pursuing his signature, with Newcastle open to a summer sale.

According to reports in Spain, the Magpies have placed a valuation of €10m (£8.7m) on the 31-year-old and look set to incur a significant loss after signing him for £20m two years ago.

Vlachodimos, who was born in Germany, developed at Stuttgart’s academy for over a decade before leaving the club in 2016 on a free transfer to Greek side Panathinaikos.

Following a spell in Greece, the ‘excellent’ 31-year-old moved to Benfica in 2018, where he spent five seasons before joining Nottingham Forest.

He made just eight appearances during his time at the City Ground, including five in the Premier League during the 2023-24 campaign.

Bayern Monitoring Anthony Gordon

Newcastle’s disappointing season under Eddie Howe could result in a busy summer transfer window.

The Magpies could face a first-team exodus after struggling to compete for continental football, with Anthony Gordon now emerging as a potential target for Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga side are reportedly eyeing Gordon to complement Luis Diaz on the left wing and are considering the England international among several options.

Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes and fellow midfielder Sandro Tonali have also been heavily linked with exits in recent weeks, with Manchester United among the clubs considering the latter.
