Opinion: Everton talent is banging on David Moyes' door to help solve major issue

Luca Davis scored yet again for Everton’s U21s on Monday.

Everton’s U21s have secured their spot in the final of the Liverpool Senior Cup following their victory over Warrington Rylands.

It has been an interesting year for Paul Tait’s side, with the U21s boss having lost a lot of his squad to loan departures.

Which player do you think could be next to shine in Everton’s first team? 🤩

Luca Davis scores again for Everton’s U21s

Tait hailed Davis a real attacking threat from right-back after he scored just over a week ago for the U21s.

This is a position where Everton have experienced some issues this season with their first team.

Does David Moyes need to put more trust in Everton’s academy players? 😤

Surely some of these players can do better than Beto and Dwight McNeil! 😡

Davis unleashed a 25-yard strike on Monday night to find the back of the net, which is a threat that Everton do not possess at either full-back position.

Ahead of the summer, Moyes has made it clear that he wants to sign a right-back and has done since he replaced Sean Dyche on Merseyside.

There are a number of dominoes that need to fall this summer, but Davis is doing all he can to earn himself an opportunity under the 62-year-old.

The reality is that Everton’s promising youngsters will require a loan to prove themselves first in men’s football, as Harrison Armstrong did.

Everton opportunity could arise for Davis

Jake O’Brien wants to return to centre-back having been slid outside to the full-back spot since Moyes made his return to the club.

And then there is the big question hanging over Seamus Coleman’s future, with the 37-year-old potentially set to retire at the end of the season.

There is going to be some considerable overhaul in the right-back spot as Nathan Patterson will be expected to leave Everton after numerous close calls.

This does not mean Davis should come in as the new starting right-back for the Blues – he is yet to even make his senior debut.

However, he is certainly putting a solid case to be considered for an opportunity in this summer’s pre-season tour.
