Liam Rosenior watched his Chelsea side lose a third consecutive game in the Premier League over the weekend.
The Blues lost 3-0 to Manchester City, which followed defeats to Everton and Newcastle United.
For now, Rosenior’s job looks safe. However, there was no need for the 41-year-old to even put himself in this position in the first place.

Chelsea job isn’t a once in a lifetime opportunity
Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world, so of course managing them would have been a dream for a young coach like Rosenior.
Ultimately, Rosenior would have felt that it was too good of an opportunity to turn down, one that may not have come around again. However, that thinking is flawed.
While the Chelsea gig is obviously a good one, it is basically available every other season. All Rosenior had to do was tell his employers that he was not ready for it yet, which is proving to be the case.
Since BlueCo took over Chelsea, they have hired four permanent managers, with their first appointment, Graham Potter, not even lasting a full season.
His successor, Mauricio Pochettino, only lasted one campaign, while Enzo Maresca was in west London for a year and a half. Again, this is a position that always becomes vacant. Rosenior, who was already on BlueCo’s books, was always going to get a shot at the Chelsea job with the upward trajectory he was on. The Englishman did not have to accept Chelsea’s proposal this season.

What is done is done now, and Rosenior can still turn things around at Stamford Bridge and have a successful 2025/26 campaign.
Chelsea are just four points behind the final Champions League spot and have reached the FA Cup semi-finals.
Failure to qualify for Europe’s elite competition next season, though, will surely see Chelsea fans call for Rosenior’s head.
There are rumours that Cesc Fabregas could replace Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, but Chelsea supporters here on The Chelsea Chronicle have already made it clear that they would like to see Fabregas in the Stamford Bridge dugout one day.
