Edon Zhegrova
Everton will face competition from Beşiktaş this summer for Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova, who looks set to leave the Italian club.
Fanatik report that the Black and Whites have set their sights on the Juventus winger as they look for a new signing on the right wing. They’re set to part ways with Milot Rashica and want a replacement.
Agents contacted
The Turkish outlet reports that Beşiktaş have contacted Zhegrova’s agent about a move this summer. That’s seen as a ‘surprising move’ by the Super Lig club, and may put them ahead of Everton.
They’ve inquired about contract terms with the player’s agents. That is the extent of the conversation and efforts so far. They add that Zhegrova is willing to leave Juventus this summer after a difficult year in Turin.
The Italian side believe their €14.3m investment last summer has not paid off, report Tuttosport. They had high expectations on the former Lille star but his playing time under Luciano Spalletti is increasingly limited.
That could see the two parties part ways this summer. Beşiktaş are certainly making moves to take advantage of that.
Everton’s longstanding interest
The Turkish side’s interest will potentially come as bad news to Everton. The Toffees have been chasing Edon Zhegrova for a while after first being linked at the end of the January transfer window.
It was later explained that David Moyes’ side had only made a very timid approach for the 27-year-old. Now they face potential competition from Beşiktaş, who have already spoken to the winger’s agents.
The Toffees now need to decide if they really want Zhegrova or their focus is elsewhere. It is likely to depend heavily on whether they can get another deal for Jack Grealish over the line.
But if they decide not to move quickly, they risk losing out to Beşiktaş in the meantime. The Turkish side are clearly making the first steps towards signing the Juventus flop this summer.
