Liverpool are weighing up a summer move for RB Leipzig captain David Raum as they plan for life after Andy Robertson at left-back.

The Scotland international is set to leave Anfield on a free transfer at the end of the season, and the 27-year-old is being considered according to talkSPORT.

Raum has emerged as a serious candidate after impressing Liverpool scouts who initially travelled to watch his Leipzig teammate Yan Diomande. The 27-year-old Germany international is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, combining leadership as club captain with consistently high-level performances down the left flank.

A naturally attacking full-back, he offers the kind of aggressive crossing and set-piece delivery that has long been a hallmark of Robertson’s game, while also boasting the athleticism to operate as a wing-back if required.

Statistically, Raum’s 2025-26 numbers underline why Liverpool view him as a strong fit.

In the Bundesliga this season he has made 26 league appearances for Leipzig, scoring 3 goals and providing 6 assists, contributing directly to 9 goals from left-back. He has logged 2,296 minutes, started every league game he has been available for, and ranks among the top left-backs in Germany for key passes, crosses and expected assists.

However, Kostas Tsimikas’ future still needs to be ironed out. talkSPORT assert that the 29-year-old will be sold this summer upon returning from his middling loan spell at AS Roma this term.

But reports from Greek today have stated the opposite, with local outlet Sport24 instead claiming that Tsimikas will be a part of Arne Slot’s side for the 2026/27.

For now, the picture at left-back remains a little muddled.

Those conflicting reports could reflect how early Liverpool are in the planning stage and how many moving parts there still are in the window ahead. Raum is clearly admired and fits the profile of a Robertson successor, but any concrete move will depend on both Leipzig’s valuation and final decisions on Tsimikas’ future.
