Nottingham Forest take on Porto on Thursday night, looking to set up a Europa League semi-final, and Vitor Pereira has some decisions to make.
The Reds’ boss made several changes to his starting eleven last week for the first leg, and after the 1-1 draw, he reinstated his top stars for the clash with Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Who was your Man of the Match vs Aston Villa?
Sunday’s share of the spoils with Villa saw a number of the so-called better players fall below their usual standards, and with that in mind, there is one Forest player who deserves a recall to the starting line-up against Porto on Thursday.

Dilane Bakwa deserves Nottingham Forest start vs Porto
Since signing from Strasbourg in the summer of 2025, Bakwa has endured a frustrating time at Forest, with regular minutes not forthcoming.
Sean Dyche completely knocked the confidence out of the Frenchman, but in Pereira, he has found himself a bit of confidence under a manager who backs him.
The Portuguese manager wanted Bakwa when he was at Wolves, and if anyone can start to get a bit of a tune out of him, it will be Pereira.
Bakwa was impressive as a wing-back in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final and perhaps he now deserves a chance playing as a winger in the 4-2-3-1 system that will likely be deployed on Thursday.
MORE FOREST STORIES
None of the club’s wingers have really hit their straps this season, and the spots are pretty much up for grabs as the season draws to a close.
Bakwa played well in the second leg against Midtjylland, and after producing some nice touches and some brilliant crosses in his last two outings, Pereira should bring him back in on Thursday night.
Bakwa can offer more than Omari Hutchinson
The winger, who landed from Ipswich, has shown flashes of promise since his arrival in the summer, but when he’s started games, he’s been extremely inconsistent.
As a result, this feels like a very good time to give Bakwa a chance in the first team from the start and see if Forest can get his confidence even higher ahead of the run-in.
Hutchinson has offered far more when coming into games from the bench and perhaps with emphasis being placed on Premier League survival, it’s a good chance to get Bakwa on the pitch from the start on Thursday.
The Frenchman has been playing more often than not away from home of late and with a sell-out City Ground expected this week, Pereira must seriously be contemplating dropping Bakwa in from the off.
