Bayern Munich consider summer bid for Harry Kane's 17-cap England teammate

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, talkSPORT understands.

Sources say Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is a massive admirer of the England international and the German giants are strongly considering a summer bid.

Should Bayern advance with a move for Gordon, he would then link up with fellow England international Harry Kane.

The Three Lions skipper has enjoyed a fruitful career since joining the German giants in August 2023.

As a Bayern player, Kane has scored a staggering 134 goals in 137 games across all competitions.

Bayern boss Kompany may lean on Kane for insights on Gordon given the two have played 12 games together for England. Gordon has 17 caps for England overall.

However, the German giants are unlikely to be the only club keen on Gordon in the summer.

talkSPORT reported in February Liverpool remain keen on the winger, who is a boyhood fan of the Reds.

Liverpool came close to prising Gordon away from Newcastle in June 2024, only for the deal to collapse and the England international pen a new contract until 2028.

Arsenal have also been linked with a swoop for Gordon, who respected journalist Henry Winter claimed would be a significant upgrade on incumbent Gunners wingers Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Summer of uncertainty awaits Newcastle

Gordon's future is sure to be one of several subplots for Newcastle ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Magpies sit 14th in the Premier League with 42 points, seven outside the European places.

More worryingly, Newcastle are ten points off fifth-placed Liverpool, who occupy the last Champions League spot on offer.

With Newcastle at real risk of missing out on European football next season, it could lead to several of their top players seeking a summer exit so they can play at the highest level.

Newcastle must 'buy well and sell well'

Should that be the case, Magpies chief executive David Hopkinson vowed the club would not allow a repeat of the Alexander Isak fiasco, where the striker went on strike to force through a record-breaking move to Liverpool last summer.

“We think through what players might or might not want to do this summer,” Hopkinson said in March.

“But if an Isak-like scenario presents itself again, any player under contract is going to leave on our terms and we’re going to maximise the opportunity that might represent for the club.

“Going forward, our strategy is to buy well and sell well.”

Asked if that meant offloading on one of their star names, he added: “We’re not ready to answer that.

“We’ve got to see what set-up we’re in and what opportunities present themselves in the market place.

“I couldn’t begin to tell you.”
