Referee appointed for Man Utd vs Chelsea once ignored Bruno Fernandes' demand for an apology

Manchester United were left frustrated with refereeing decisions against Leeds United and now the Premier League has confirmed who will take charge of the Chelsea match.

In the 2-1 defeat to Leeds United on Monday evening, Michael Carrick was left seething at referee decisions.

Lisandro Martinez was sent off for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair, and the first Leeds goal was scored after what seemed to be a foul on Leny Yoro.

Carrick wanted the first Leeds goal disallowed, and he lashed out at the referees in his post-match comments.

Bruno Fernandes demanded an apology from Michael Oliver

Back in 2023, Fernandes demanded an apology from Oliver after United were denied a penalty in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.

A handball offence by Cristian Romero was waved away by Oliver, and Fernandes was left seething at the decision.

“I want to see if they come to apologise to our dressing room like they said he did to the manager of Wolves,” Fernandes said.

Oliver has taken charge of three United matches in 2025/26. The Red Devils have won two of them and lost once.
