Manchester United should pursue another right-back when the transfer window reopens this summer.
The Red Devils returned to Premier League action after the international break against Leeds United on Monday night.
The club were subject to a couple of dubious refereeing decisions as they suffered a 2-1 defeat in front of their faithful.
There were multiple underperformers, including Noussair Mazraoui, who started at right-back ahead of Diogo Dalot.
The Moroccan played as a right-sided centre-back earlier this season but was not convincing with his performances.
The same has been the case from right-back. He lost the ball eight times on Monday and struggled with his positioning.
Mazraoui was ultimately replaced by Dalot, and we believe United need an upgrade on the 28-year-old for next season.
Juventus have been long-term admirers of Mazraoui, and a move to Serie A could be on the cards during the summer.
If he were to depart, United must explore a deal for Brentford sensation Michael Kayode.
The Italian ace signed for the Bees on loan from Fiorentina in January last year before a permanent summer move.
The 21-year-old has been fantastic for the west London outfit, winning six duels per appearance.
He has also won two tackles per outing with almost five recoveries. Kayode has likewise made an average of three clearances.
Kayode is a defensively astute right-back but also offers a different outlook in the final third with his quick pace and dribbling.
He provides a genuine attacking threat with his stellar long throws into the box, which some believe are better than Rory Delap’s.
Keith Andrews’ side signed Kayode for £17 million last summer, and it has been reported that he could be sold for around £35 million.
With his current age (21) and immense potential, he appears a no-brainer signing for the Red Devils at the end of the season.
United could recoup at least one-third of that amount from Mazraoui’s potential summer move to Juventus or another club.
Kayode would be a strong competitor to Dalot. He has the credentials to become United’s undisputed right-back in future.
