Ibrahima Konate rated highest as Jeremie Frimpong endures night to forget

Liverpool showed plenty of fight despite losing 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain, but Jeremie Frimpong struggled and Alexander Isak shouldn’t have started.

The Reds crashed out of the Champions League 4-0 on aggregate, producing a spirited second-half performance before being stung on the counter-attack.

Here we compare our player ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and TIA readers.

It was a tough night for Frimpong (rated 4.25 on average), who was an erratic presence at right-back and receieved the lowest mark.

The Dutchman only lasted 45 minutes before being replaced by Joe Gomez and was described as “dreadful” by GOAL’s Mark Doyle, who gave him a three-out-of-10.

Arne Slot’s decision to start Isak (4.68) didn’t pay off at all, with Liverpool’s record signing not at the races and understandably so.

This Is Anfield’s Danny Gallagher said he cut a “frustrated” figure at times and was “miles off it” by his high standards.

On the plus side, Ibrahima Konate (6.58) scored best for Liverpool, with the centre-back doing well against the team his family supports.

He narrowly pipped Dominik Szoboszlai (6.5) to the Reds’ highest rating, who was “improved” after the break, according to Ian Doyle of the Echo.

Liverpool 0-2 PSG: What the stats say

According to FotMob, Szoboszlai caught the eye the most, getting a 7.7 rating after a night full of typical endeavour, winning eight out of 10 duels.

Liverpool’s No. 8 had 99 touches, which was more than anyone on the pitch and 23 more than even the exceptional Vitinha for PSG.

Szoboszlai made five tackles, which was matched only by Willian Pacho, as well as 11 recoveries – the most for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister won only 40 and 50 per cent of their duels equating to 2/5 and 3/6, respectively.

Mac Allister also won just one tackle and made no interceptions, as he struggled to match PSG’s midfielders.
