Report: Everton tracking £22m talent from same academy which produced Kevin De Bruyne

Everton are having a strong season, largely thanks to the more experienced players on Merseyside.

David Moyes has opted to lean on his senior figures in the hunt for European football, as the 32-year-old Jordan Pickford and the 36-year-old Idrissa Gueye play key roles, alongside others to have surpassed the age of 30 in James Tarkowski and Michael Keane.

The young talents at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Tyler Dibling, Adam Aznou and Merlin Rohl have hardly featured – despite that, The Friedkin Group are still monitoring wonderkids from across Europe amid interest in Genk prodigy Robin Mirisola.

Would you drop James Tarkowski for the Merseyside Derby? 😬

And if so, who are you replacing him with? 🫣

Genk produced Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois, and Everton target Robin Mirisola could be next to shine

Sportsboom now state that Everton are scouting the Belgium U21 international ahead of a potential summer swoop for the 19-year-old.

The Genk No.29 has enjoyed a breakthrough season in Belgium this term, netting three goals and providing three assists in 20 Jupiler Pro League appearances for the Belgian giants.

Sportsboom say Mirisola has alerted Everton – who also like Liam Delap – thanks to his impressive performances, while Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are interested too.

Genk only extended the teenager’s contract back in January, when he penned a deal running until July 2030. Despite that, Sportsboom believe they would consider selling the striker for a sum of €25m (£22m) this summer.

The report adds that Roma are also keen, which very much suggests the interest from Everton is being led by The Friedkin Group – who seem to be on a different page to Moyes when it comes to young players.

Will TFG have to move away from Moyes to achieve their recruitment model? 😬

Dan Friedkin.

£22m would be a lot to spend on Mirisola given his lack of experience, but when you consider Genk have previously produced elite talent such as Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois, it could prove to be a bargain in no time.
