Emi Martinez is reportedly set to make himself available for selection for Aston Villa’s match against Bologna.

The goalkeeper was unable to play against Nottingham Forest on Sunday after pulling out of the starting XI.

Martinez felt pain in his calf and therefore opted to sit out the game as a precaution.

The Daily Mail have since reported that he is expected to be available for selection, which comes as a boost to Villa’s chances of protecting their aggregate lead.

Villa won 3-1 in Italy last Thursday, with Ollie Watkins scoring twice in the second half after Ezri Konsa broke the deadlock before half-time.

The team will train on Wednesday morning ahead of Thursday night’s clash, with Unai Emery also set to speak to the media at Bodymoor Heath on Wednesday afternoon.

He is expected to provide a team news update for the Europa League quarter-final second leg.

If Villa progress, they will face either Nottingham Forest or FC Porto in the semi-finals.
