Newcastle United have submitted an offer for Porto rising star William Gomes ahead of the summer, journalist Bruno Andrade has revealed.
The St James’ Park side have stepped up their interest in the 20-year-old Brazilian amid uncertainty surrounding Anthony Gordon’s future at the club.
Gordon is believed to have emerged as a target for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and could consider a departure amid a difficult season under Eddie Howe.
Newcastle are sitting just 14th in the Premier League standings with six games remaining, having lost seven of their last 10 top-flight matches.

According to Andrade, Newcastle have firmed up their interest in Gomes by submitting an initial proposal. While the exact details of the offer remain unclear, the Magpies appear to be seriously interested in the 20-year-old. Andrade told SportsCentre Brasil:
“I can confirm that the interest not only exists, but there is already an offer from Newcastle on the table for William Gomes.
“The exact value is not yet known, I am trying to find out. I hope to have that information during the day, or at least during the course of the programme.
“But that is it – Newcastle in England are interested and have already made an offer for William Gomes.”
Gomes joined Porto from Brazilian side Sao Paulo in January 2025 and has enjoyed a breakout 2025-26 campaign with the two-time Champions League winners.
The ‘incredible’ 20-year-old forward has registered 13 goals and two assists in 40 appearances in all competitions this season, including four goals in the Europa League.
He found the back of the net in last Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the quarter-final first leg, scoring in a second consecutive game in the competition.

A versatile winger, Gomes is able to play on either flank and could come in as a replacement for Gordon, who has emerged as a target for Bayern in recent days.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, ‘concrete talks’ between parties have already taken place over a potential summer move, with Bayern ready to spend up to €70 million (£60m) on the England international.
The Bavarians are reportedly looking to bring in a new left winger to complement Luis Diaz, with Gordon firmly among the options being considered.
