No regret over selling player to Leeds United – Insistence it’s just fine

Leeds United

Noah Okafor sparkled for Leeds United on Monday, grabbing a brace against Manchester United.

The victory at Old Trafford carries big importance for the Whites, who are now six points clear of 18th placed Tottenham. They take on the struggling London side soon, but for now they have breathing room.

The Swiss attacker, who was brought in from AC Milan for£18m, now has six goals in the campaign. While he has struggled for consistency, Okafor has now scored against Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea, showing how he is the man for big occasions.

That wasn’t entirely true at the Rossoneri, though. He scored seven times in all competitions for them, playing 54 times. On loan at Napoli, he could never really convince Antonio Conte.

Sport Witness covered his move to Elland Road extensively, as Milan showed little hesitation in selling him.

His brace this week is raising the eyebrows in Italy, leaving many wondering if the sale to Leeds United was worth it.

No regret about deal

MilanLive note that Noah Okafor’s season hasn’t been stellar. Even if he got the big goals against Manchester United, they feel he has picked up form only in recent weeks.

Milan’s instability last season likely impacted the Switzerland international. They had two managers in the 2024/25 campaign, as they finished outside the Champions League spots.

Despite that, there is no regret about Okafor’s sale to Leeds United, and it’s believed a good deal was negotiated.

They explore the argument that the 25-year-old could’ve contributed more than Christopher Nkunku. But that idea is shut down as Milan are happy with how much they earned from Okafor’s exit, having signed him for€14m.

Our take: Milan’s instability impacted Okafor

The 2024/25 campaign was rather strange for Milan. Almost every player struggled, as both Sergio Conceicao and Paulo Fonseca fought the best from the squad.

As a result, The Swiss forward could also never find his best position at the Rossoneri. This was different to the 2023/24 campaign, when he was much better under Stefano Pioli.

This season, Milan are facing struggles in attack. In 2026, almost all their attackers have struggled. Considering that and how they’re a bit more stable under Max Allegri, Okafor could have been quite a useful option.

Leeds United should have no complaints, as Daniel Farke seems to be getting a tune out of the versatile forward.
