Opinion: Everton have a genuine chance of pulling off their best signing in the last 10 years

David Moyes is already drawing up a shortlist of Everton targets ahead of the fast-approaching summer transfer window.

Several strikers have been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in recent weeks, so it’s clear David Moyes wants to upgrade on Thierno Barry and Beto.

Championship top scorer Zan Vipotnik has been mooted with a move to Everton, and so too has Troy Parrott.

Would this put you off bringing Harry Wilson to Everton this summer? 😬

Alexander Sorloth is another name being mentioned with the Toffees after his prolific season with Atletico Madrid.

Now, Everton have the chance to eclipse every signing they’ve made in the last 10 years by signing one of the best centre-forwards in recent times.

Everton have a real chance of bringing back Romelu Lukaku

Italian outlet Repubblica have reported that Napoli will look to sell Romelu Lukaku at the end of the season.

Lukaku was linked with a move to Everton in the January transfer window, and it’s understood that the Friedkin Group actually asked Napoli for the conditions of the deal.

Now though, the Italian giants have given him the green light to leave, handing Everton the perfect opportunity to pull off one of their best signings in the last decade.

Lukaku is still one of the best centre-forwards in Europe when he’s fit, and his profile would fit Moyes’ system like a glove.

The towering centre-forward would receive plenty of crosses and through balls into space, playing for this version of Everton.

Naturally, there will be some concern whether Lukaku is past his best, but it was only last season when he registered a whopping 25 goal involvements for the Serie A winners.

With a proper pre-season, the 124-cap international could genuinely hit 15 plus Premier League goals for the Toffees.
