Newcastle United jobs: The club are looking for several new recruits ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Newcastle United chief executive officer David Hopkinson has plans in place for a major recruitment drive off the pitch.
The CEO is understood to have identified, in his own words, ‘world-class’ candidates for the chief strategy officer, chief marketing officer, chief people officer and chief revenue officer.
Hopkinson has outlined a ‘2030’ plan to make Newcastle one of the best clubs in world football within the next four years. For now, it’s just words and ambition as Newcastle sit 14th in the Premier League table.
NUFC eyeing ‘world-class’ talent off the pitch
Hopkinson can’t score 30 goals for Newcastle or tell Eddie Howe when to make a substitution. What happens on the pitch is largely out of his control. But, looking at the bigger picture, he can get the right people in place to give the club the best chance of being successful in the future, manager included.
When asked about how Hopkinson will achieve his ambitions at Newcastle, he told NewcastleWorld: “We’re not going to win by accident. We’re going to win because we’ve been thoughtful and strategic about the organisation we’ve constructed, whose sole purpose is to win.
“We have some gaps. We have some folks that are world-class talents that don’t work here today.
“I want to make sure that we’re recruiting world-class talent. I don’t know how long that will take, but we’re having world-class talent put their hand up for us.
“I had conversations with folks that are saying, ‘Look, I see where this is going, I want to be part of it, it’s a rocket ship, I see that, and I want to get on that rocket ship’. They’re both foreigners.”
Newcastle United’s recruitment drive
Newcastle recently posted its financial accounts that showed a 44% rise in commercial revenue, which was supported by greater investment into the club’s in-house retail operation and the opening of the St James’ STACK fan zone. But with that came increased staffing costs.
In 2023, Newcastle’s accounts showed the club had 410 employees. That figure increased by almost 50% up to 614 by 2025 and the 2026 accounts will likely show further increases as the club plans further additions behind the scenes.
A key role on the football side includes a scouting positional analyst to provide a recruitment advantage through detailed insight. Newcastle Women are also looking for a hybrid scout and an academy individual player development coach.
The club also has several high-level openings on the commercial and communications front, including a product optimisation manager, digital programme lead and digital product manager to better connect with fans. A commercial data analyst, resourcing business partner and internal communications manager will also be appointed to help ‘develop and deliver an effective internal communications strategy aligned to the club vision and 2030 plan’.
So that ‘2030 plan’ isn’t just a headline-making comment made by Hopkinson to the media, it’s a recognised ambition internally at the club.
Let’s see what the future holds.
