Opinion: Why Jack Grealish could play a role in Everton signing Liam Delap

Everton have been long-term admirers of Chelsea centre-forward Liam Delap.

David Moyes tried to sign Liam Delap last summer, and he even had a private tour of Everton before deciding to join Chelsea.

Delap’s debut season in West London hasn’t gone to plan, as he’s scored just one Premier League goal all season.

Would this put you off bringing Harry Wilson to Everton this summer? 😬

That’s led to speculation that he could leave at the end of the season, with the Toffees named as a potential destination again.

Everton could reportedly sign Delap on a loan deal, and here’s why Jack Grealish could play a role in any forthcoming transfer.

Jack Grealish has a relationship with Liam Delap and could convince him to join

Grealish played with Delap at Manchester City, so the pair already have an existing relationship.

The Everton winger also has the same agent as Delap, as they are both represented by CAA Stellar.

So with that said, perhaps Grealish could put in a good word to Delap and convince him to make the switch to Merseyside this summer.

Jarrad Branthwaite, James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam have also played with the Chelsea forward at various age groups with England.

So, there are a lot of familiar faces for Delap at Everton, which could genuinely give them the edge in the race to land his signature.

Newcastle United are the biggest threat to the Toffees at the moment, as Eddie Howe is showing a serious interest in the 23-year-old.

Sunderland have also been circling in recent weeks.
