Newcastle are expected to make a bid of around £43.5 million to sign a 'new superstar' to potentially replace top Bayern Munich target Anthony Gordon.
Bayern Munich shortlist Anthony Gordon as 'top' summer target
According to credible reports from Germany, Bayern's interest in Gordon is pretty serious indeed.

Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg even reports that the Englishman, who has bagged 17 goals and five assists for Eddie Howe's side this campaign, is Bayern's top winger target as Vincent Kompany looks to add Premier League quality to his squad.
This is backed up via sources in England as well, with The Times claiming that Gordon is in fact a priority target for the Bundesliga champions as Howe faces a battle to keep him.
The former Everton star, it seems, could join a noteworthy list of Magpies stars whose futures may lie far away from St. James' Park.
Midfielder Sandro Tonali, who was offered to Arsenal by his agent in January, continues to attract real interest from north London, with Man City and Man United among the sides also keeping tabs on the Italian.

The Magpies have endured a disappointing campaign.
Tino Livramento is another key name who is wanted at the top end of the Premier League, while even Bruno Guimaraes has been tipped with a potential move to Old Trafford.
If Howe does keep his job beyond the summer, losing Gordon would be a major blow for him ahead of what will be a crucial 2026/2027 campaign, especially with the interest in other key men.
Fortunately for Howe, Newcastle are reportedly making contingency plans to replace the 25-year-old.
Newcastle expected to bid £43.5m for Porto winger William Gomes
According to a report from Sports Boom today, FC Porto winger William Gomes is seen as a potential heir to Gordon out wide.

The Brazilian, who has notched 13 goals and two assists in all competitions this season, is billed as a 'new superstar' by the report and one who Newcastle rate extremely highly.
It is even stated that Newcastle are expected to make a bid of precisely £43.5 million for Gomes, but that being said, it still may not be enough.
The Primeira Liga side will apparently demand north of £60 million to even consider letting the 20-year-old part company this summer, so Newcastle's offer would fall drastically short.
Gomes' contract includes a release clause worth around £70m, which is seen as a real strengthener for Porto in negotiations as Francesco Farioli's side dig their heels in for a marquee fee.

Sports Boom also reports that Porto expect his value to reach 'record levels' in the next two years, so they're quite opposed to selling him in 2026 with that in mind.
Newcastle may have difficulty convincing the Portuguese heavyweights to sell their stellar rising talent, so it will be wise for the St. James' hierarchy to draw up a shortlist of alternatives.
Elsewhere, it is believed that Newcastle are now in 'concrete talks' with Serbian playmaker Ognjen Ugresic.
