"I'm told" - Fabrizio Romano says manager he really rates is "open" to Man Utd move

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola will leave the Cherries at the end of the season and is 'open' to a move to Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Andoni Iraola to Man Utd latest

The Spaniard has been phenomenal during his time on the South Coast, winning 45 of his 121 games in charge while losing key players in the transfer window.

Manchester United of course have a decision to make over the future of Michael Carrick, who has brought renewed optimism to the club despite a dip in form in recent weeks, picking up just one win in their last four matches.

And Iraola's decision to leave Bournemouth could change things, according to Romano, with the up and coming tactician 'open' to a move to Old Trafford.

He's had his say...

"A really important update regarding Iraola - let me say one of the best managers in the Premier League in recent years.

"Iraola has now decided to say goodbye at the end of the season. The decision offically communicated today, he is ready to try a new chapter in his professional career.

"From what I understand, Iraola would like to continue in the Premier League."

Speaking specifically about United, the reporter suggested that while their "feeling" around Carrick is "really positive", Iraola would like to manage the club at some point in his career.

"I'm told that he would be open to that, for sure"

Although there have been no negotiations with the 43 year-old yet, it seems the door is open if INEOS decide he is indeed the man to take United forward.

Carrick facing centre-back crisis

Carrick is facing somewhat of a crisis in his defensive ranks ahead of the Red Devils' trip to Chelsea next weekend, with both Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire set to be suspended for the clash at Stamford Bridge.

Maguire has been seen his extended one-match ban upheld by the Football Association for swearing at a fourth official following his red card at Bournemouth last month.

Martinez meanwhile was given his marching orders for pullling Leeds striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hair during Monday night's defeat at Old Trafford, a decision which left captain Bruno Fernandes furious.

Carrick will be forced to depend on youngsters Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven in West London, in a match that could have huge implications on the race for Champions League football, with the Blues currently on the outside looking in.
