Roy Keane issues Jamie Carragher dig in predicting Everton's European chances

Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher both believe Everton have strong momentum in the race for Champions League qualification.

Everton secured a late point at the weekend against Brentford to keep their hopes of Champions League football alive.

Last week, UEFA confirmed fifth place will secure Champions League qualification, and Aston Villa could make sixth-place eligible to qualify if they win the Europa League and finish in the top five.

Give us your gut feeling… will Everton make it into Europe? 🌍

Three points in the Merseyside Derby this weekend would close the gap on Liverpool to just two points, and potentially take Everton into sixth spot.

“Just imagine Everton getting into it on the back of going into a new stadium,” said Keane on Sky Sports.

“David Moyes has obviously done a brilliant job. Of course, he always does. Yeah, it would be great to see Everton. Would you like to see that, Jamie?

“Yeah, I have got to go back there tomorrow,” Carragher replied.

Everton’s players are focused on securing European qualification of any kind this season, but Champions League is becoming a real possibility.

The Blues are set for an important summer transfer window, and landing Champions League qualification could transform the possibilities on offer.

It is believed that Angus Kinnear has two transfer plans in place for Everton as the club target European football.

Champions League football would transform the finances on Merseyside, with a significantly larger payout over the other two European competitions.

A massive opportunity is on the table for the Blues and Keane is convinced they have it in them to finish in either fifth or sixth position.
