Porto pleased with Zaidu's performances as in-form LB aims for 8th consecutive start against…

Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi is targeting an eighth consecutive start for FC Porto on Thursday night when the Portuguese giants face Nottingham Forest in the Europa League quarterfinal.

Ahead of Porto's trip to Nottingham, the defender has already started four matches in the Primeira Liga and three in the Europa League, underlining his growing importance to the team.

Sanusi has enjoyed a renewed lease of life at Porto under manager Francesco Farioli following his return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

His future at the club had previously been uncertain, with speculation over a possible exit across two transfer windows amid reported interest from clubs in Spain and England.

He also endured a difficult spell in which opportunities were limited for a season and a half due to a serious knee injury sustained after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Portuguese sports daily A Bola, both Farioli and Porto's hierarchy are satisfied with his recent performances.

In a congested fixture schedule, Sanusi is one of only three players to have started Porto's last seven matches, alongside Diogo Costa and Jan Bednarek.

The 28-year-old, now in his sixth season at the club, is under contract until June 2027.
