Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur could return for Curtis Jones in summer

Curtis Jones is entering a summer that could define the next chapter of his career and Liverpool may not be the club he sees it out at.

The 25-year-old academy graduate has found first-team minutes hard to come by this season under Arne Slot. Across all competitions, Jones has made 23 appearances in the Premier League, starting just 10 of those, with a further six outings in the Champions League.

It is the kind of record that tells its own story. A player good enough to be in the squad, but not quite trusted to be central to it.

His contract runs until June 2027, meaning this summer is the last realistic window for Liverpool to command a significant fee. That has not been lost on clubs across Europe.

Inter Milan were the first to act. The Serie A leaders made their interest known in January, with Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Jones himself was open to the move.

Liverpool initially consented to a sale before ultimately pulling the plug, unwilling to lose a squad asset mid-season. But Inter haven’t gone away.

According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, both Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur could potentially return for Jones this summer, with the midfielder wanting more minutes:

“Curtis Jones’s desire for more minutes also leaves a door ajar; a door that was knocked on by Inter Milan in January and could be opened if they match Liverpool’s valuation. Tottenham, who are in pole position to sign Robertson if they stay up, also retain an interest in the 25-year-old midfielder.”

Tottenham were interested in signing Curtis Jones during the January transfer window. Jones will enter the final year of his contract after the 2025/26 season, and Spurs view the situation as an opportunity to sign him at a reduced fee while offering regular first-team football.

He could be joined in north London by Andy Robertson, who confirmed last week he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires this summer.

Tottenham have a long-standing interest in the 32-year-old left-back and are in advanced talks over a free transfer, having previously failed with an approach in January.

While a full agreement has not yet been reached, discussions are progressing well. However, any deal is expected to depend on Tottenham retaining their Premier League status, with the club currently 18th and two points behind 17th-placed West Ham United.
