Everton could soon make a signing that turns Thierno Barry into a top striker (opinion)

Thierno Barry has so far proven to be an unsuccessful signing at Everton.

£27m was spent to take the Frenchman from Villarreal back in July, but he has only managed to score six goals in 32 Premier League appearances under David Moyes so far.

The Everton No.11 was also booed during the 3-0 win over Chelsea after his pals were allegedly involved in a fight with fans inside the Emirates Stadium.

Life could soon get better for Thierno Barry at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – however – as Everton attempt to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Merseyside.

If you could bring back Richarlison or Lukaku this month, who would you go for? 👀

Everton want Romelu Lukaku back, and the Belgian could act as a mentor for Thierno Barry

Everton asked about Lukaku in January as The Friedkin Group targeted a romantic reunion with the Belgian.

The Toffees were told the Napoli No.9 was unwilling to make a move during the season, but La Repubblica in Italy now claim that the Belgium international will be leaving Naples at the end of the season.

Lukaku has fallen out with Napoli after failing to return to training in March, opting to recover from his hamstring and hip issues at home, and with just over 12 months remaining on his contract, the Italian giants will look to sell the 32-year-old this summer.

Should Everton successfully bring the man born in Antwerp back to Merseyside, it could be beneficial for Barry in future.

The 23-year-old may initially struggle for playing time in this instance, as Lukaku and Beto would be ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, the chance to learn from a striker widely regarded as one of the best of his generation – he can boast 324 goals in 692 career games – on a daily basis at Finch Farm could help to eventually bring the best out of Barry.

Lukaku is roughly a decade older than Barry too, so he would hopefully possess the maturity to put an arm around his shoulder and show him the ropes.

Thierno Barry backs himself to be the next Romelu Lukaku at Everton…🤔

“They have a good history and good players who have played here, like Wayne Rooney and Romelu Lukaku. When I was young I liked to watch these players, now I want to do like these players who have gone before.”

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Napoli aim to offload the striker who bagged 87 goals in 166 games for Everton this summer.
