Anthony Gordon is open to leaving Newcastle this summer, as Arsenal weigh up a mega-money transfer swoop. Gordon, 25, has been linked with the Gunners in recent months while German giants Bayern Munich have also emerged as potential suitors.

It was claimed earlier this week that Bayern are lining up a £55million bid. Newcastle, however, would demand considerably more for the England international, who wants his future resolved before the World Cup which starts in June.

The Telegraph report that although Gordon hasn't informed Newcastle of his desire to leave, sources indicate that he'll seek a move away during the summer transfer window. Arsenal are said to have long-standing interest in the winger, who they've discussed in recruitment meetings.

Liverpool, meanwhile, could revive their interest after nearly signing Gordon in 2024, shortly before he penned a new long-term contract with Newcastle. It's added that despite coming through Everton's academy, he'd jump at the chance to join their local rivals.

The hierarchy at St James' Park are braced for offers when the window opens - and not just for Gordon. Key players such as Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have all been linked with other Premier League clubs.

Newcastle lost star striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool last summer and they've paid the price after a lengthy transfer saga. Eddie Howe's side have slipped to 14th in the table with six games remaining and are unlikely to qualify for Europe like they have done in the last three seasons.

Gordon has still been a bright spot for the Magpies, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists. Ten of those strikes came in the Champions League, with the former Everton star proving himself in Europe's elite competition.

Arsenal signed three attackers last summer but could rejig their forward line once again this year. Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have each been tipped to leave the Emirates in order to fund new signings.

Gordon isn't the only forward on Arsenal's shortlist, though. The Gunners have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez in what could be another big summer of spending.

Much could depend on the outcome of this season, with Liverpool at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification. Arsenal and Bayern, on the other hand, could meet this year's final and win their domestic league titles.
