Roy Keane shares Everton stance after rejecting Ian Wright's Merseyside Derby prediction

Roy Keane has seen too much from Everton to agree with Ian Wright’s prediction of a Liverpool win ahead of Sunday.

The first Merseyside Derby will be held at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this weekend, with an awful lot riding on it for both teams.

Everton have been handed an advantage as Liverpool will be without Hugo Ekitike following his injury during the week.

“Liverpool! This is the game that can give their fans [a lift],” said Wright.

Despite Wright being clear in his belief that Liverpool will win, Keane was able to convince him to a 2-2 draw.

Keane has backed Everton for a lot of this season, having seen big progression following the return of Moyes.

Everton fans may well feel that three points are there to be had this weekend given the Reds are so desperately out of form.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is excited for the Merseyside Derby and ready to make a statement in the race for European football.

Everton have major opportunity to make Liverpool statement

The Toffees have a big opportunity to close the deficit to just two points on their rivals with victory this weekend.

UEFA have confirmed fifth place will secure Champions League football for next season, which should offer Everton a lot of hope.

However, with just six games remaining, Everton need to take points from the teams around them.

The draw against Brentford turned out to be a solid result, but it did not do anything to change the table.

Liverpool do not head into the game with any real form behind them, with Everton having a huge opportunity to stake their claim for European qualification.
